Photo critique: Waterboy!

I took this photo in downtown Corvallis at the waterfront area. This fountain is turned on in the warmer weather for children to play in. I captured this boy who was letting the water go up his shorts...he and his friends thought this was quite funny...it was! Anyway, I was across the fountain area and tried to zoom in on him.
I purposely exaggerated the color in this photo, because initially I didn't see the rainbow in the background. I like the tones and the "majestic" look of this photo with extreme colors. It feels like childhood. The rainbow was a cool little bonus that I got...that I didn't even see when I took the shot!

I even liked the "glowing" effect the tree branch has to the left of the child in the frame. A fun pic.

Photo critique: Had to turn around!

I was driving home the other day when for some reason I noticed these crosses from the road. I turned my car around and headed back to the front of this church, on Walnut Boulevard in Corvallis. For some reason I couldn't leave without taking a picture.
Although the homes are in the background, I feel this photo is a clean shot...it's not overly cluttered with chaos, and I think the colors are peaceful and visually pleasing. I also like the variety in sizes of the crosses.

Photo critique: Ahoy sailor!

Another action shot! This is a really cool shot because the sailor is so involved. What he's doing requires a little strength (I know, I've done it) and it's a great physical shot. The lighting is also nice in this shot. His hair blowing in the air is also a nice touch and lends more dramatic appeal for an action shot.

Photo critique: Strength and Power

I like the coloring of this photo. The color is very visually pleasing, and it's a strong action shot. I also liked the color of her dress for the background, it all just seems to work, and she as well as her hair coloring has a nice contrast among the background setting.

Photo critique: Deep love

I love this picture! The lighting is so visually pleasing. I really like how the colors pop, and the background is dark in contrast! It really lets the subject show, and the point of the photo. There isn't anything I don't like about this photo! Wonderful, and so nice to look at.

Photo taken by: Dorothy Parker- "Mended Heart"

Below is a poem written by Dorothy Parker that was below the photo:

They laid their hands upon my head,
They stroked my cheek and brow;
And time could heal a hurt, they said,
And time could dim a vow.
And they were pitiful and mild
Who whispered to me then;
"The heart that breaks in April, child;
Will mend in May again."
Oh, many a mended heart they knew;
So old they were, and wise.
And little did they have to do
To come to me with lies!
Who flings me silly talk of May
Shall meet a bitter soul;
For June was nearly spent away
Before my heart was whole.

Photo Critique:

I chose this photo I took of my son. I took this as a candid shot. He was totally involved and I crept up and snapped it. I liked that he was deeply into what he was doing. Jesse (that's his name) wants to be a musician, and he's extremely talented, this prop (his guitar) really helps capture his love of playing music. As cliche as it sounds, music really is his passion.

The picture kind of has a soft tone to it as well, which I felt helped give it a neat feeling. I'm sure there are things in the pic that could be better, but overall, I really like this pic! (and not just because it has my beautiful son in it)!
